Tambo
River
Tambo Nicholson Catchment
Rising in the high plains and southern slopes of
the Great Dividing Range east of
Benambra, the Tambo River empties into
the Gippsland Lakes via
Lake King. Generally flowing through private
property between Mount Tambo and Tambo Crossing in a southerly direction. The
Great
Alpine Road essentially follows the Tambo River from Tongio East to
Bruthen, taking in
the towns of
Swifts Creek
and Ensay. Tributaries of the Tambo
River include Swifts Creek, Little River and the
Haunted Stream
