Tambo Nicholson Catchment Area

Occupying an area of 425,000 ha, and rising in the southern slopes of the Alpine Region east of Omeo, the Tambo Nicholson Catchment Area includes the Tambo River and it's tributaries, the Timbarra River, Swifts Creek, Little River and the Haunted Stream, as well as the Nicholson River and it's tributary, Store Creek emptying into the Gippsland Lakes by way of Lake King. Bossy Creek and Stony Creek collect local water and empty into Lake Tyers. Mississippi Creek empties into the Gippsland Lakes by way of the North Arm. There are also several streams that flow directly into the Gippsland Lakes in this catchment including Salt, Mississippi, Maringa and Slaughterhouse Creeks.
