Lake Tyers

Local Area Catchment

Often closed to the ocean, the sheltered waters of Lake Tyers rise in the local catchment area south of Buchan and east of the Timbarra River. Boggy Creek meets the tidal estuary waters of the Nowa Nowa Arm to the south of the small timber town of Nowa Nowa after flowing through the Boggy Creek Gorge. The large inlet, protected by Lake Tyers Forest Park, offers opportunity for many water based activities including swimming, fishing, canoeing and water skiing. Many tracks through Lake Tyers Forest Park provide access to the lake.
