Old Mitchell River Weir Site

Situated on the Mitchell River at the southern end of the Mitchell River National Park, the Mitchell River Weir was designed by J A Henderson Engineering and constructed from local material. The weir was completed in 1893 by H McKenzie & Sons - contractors for the Bairnsdale Irrigation & Water Supply Trust. Flood, combined with foundation issues, caused the new weir to fail soon after completion.
