Marine Parks and Sanctuaries of East
Gippsland are areas of coastal, intertidal or
sub tidal land that, because of its natural environment or the
nature of the waters that cover it, is of conservation or
scientific significance. Marine Parks & Sanctuaries are fully
protected "no take" areas of the sea protecting native flora, fauna, natural features and sites of
archaeological or historical importance. Commercial and
recreational utilization of natural resources are controlled.

East Gippsland's Marine Parks &
Sanctuaries are fully protected "no take" areas of the
sea safeguarding a unique and diverse range of marine flora and
fauna and their environment. Any activity that
involves the removal of flora or fauna or the disturbance of the
seabed is prohibited. All forms of recreational
and commercial fishing in these areas are prohibited. This
includes angling, spear fishing, netting and the use of traps. No restrictions apply to
access and activities such as recreational tourism, education and
research are encouraged.
