Country & Alpine Region and the high country of the
Snowy River & Far East
Region is usually pleasant in summer, although snow can
fall in much of the region. The mountains in the alpine area at Hotham Heights and Dinner Plain usually
provide sufficient snow suitable for skiing in winter
and early spring. Snowfall varies greatly from year to year and can
occur any time of the year, including early summer. Weather in the
high country and alpine region is very
changeable at any time of year with highest rainfalls experienced during winter and spring.

Swifts Creek,

Benambra and
Orbost are
popular destinations for high country based activities during the
summer and autumn.
