• Marlo developed into an important port for shipping companies including the Snowy River Steamship Company between the 1850's and the 1880's with paddle steamers, schooners and ketches navigating the lower reaches of the Snowy River and shipping agricultural produce grown on the Snowy River flood plains to Melbourne.
