Home of The April Hamer, LEFCOL and Marine Research & Education
Centre
Situated on the eastern section of the
Gippsland
Lakes, just off the
Princes
Highway at the western entrance to
Lakes Entrance, Bullock Island is a
popular destination for fishing with access to the entrance channel on the
western side of the island. Bullock Island is home to the Lakes
Entrance Fishermans Co Op with a selection of locally caught fresh fish on
offer, as well as home to the sand dredge April Hamer, and the newly formed Marine Research &
Education Centre. Bullock Island also affords close up views of the
Entrance and some of the
Gippsland Lakes, as well as the fishing
fleet returning and unloading its catch.
