Benambra

High Country Grazing & Timber Harvesting

180 Traditionally a grazing area, located near Omeo in the north central region of East Gippsland, Benambra was also known for copper and zinc mining. With the Benambra Mine being a significant regional employer, it's closure in 1998 had a significant effect on the prosperity of the region. Today, the principal industries of Benambra and surrounding area include pastoral activities including cattle and sheep, timber and tourism.  Acknowledgement of quality, high country beef production is confirmed each year with the annual weaner sales attracting buyers from all over Australia.
